What is Steps
and the City?
It's one platform where you can take dancing lessons but also benefit from training like a dancer, whether or not dancing is your thing! Classes are offered in person or virtually and taught by an experienced, classically trained dancer. You can choose between a dance class, a dance fitness class or even a yoga class!
New York City is fast paced and buzzing with active energy, making it easy to neglect one's own needs. I have designed this platform for you, where you can recharge your mind and body by making time for yourself. You can tap into your creative mode and lose yourself in the rhythms of partner dancing or you can take my Train Like A Dancer program for toning and endurance training. What's most important is that you take a few minutes out of your day to work on yourself, to replenish your soul and keep your body healthy.
Dancers work hard, on their inner and outer bodies but also, their mindset. It takes tremendous discipline and determination to become a dancer. You don't have to want to become a dancer to learn the tools provided here. What you can take away from it are physical, mental and emotional benefits that will last a lifetime.

Wow where do I start???? Ivana has been unbelievably helpful, patient, sweet, and kind. Her sessions are fun and laid back but also enormously challenging and exhilarating! Her tone combined with her immense knowledge of her craft come together to make an truly enjoyable experience from start to finish not matter what your skill level is. Highly, highly recommended! Not to mention I'm so much lighter on my feet now! :D

FAQs
Everything first-timers ask before their very first lesson.
Every person is different but in general, we find that it takes at least 5 lessons to begin to move around with ease on the dance floor. As with any physical activity, consistency brings the best result.
Our lessons are 50 minutes long.
You should wear comfortable shoes with non-rubbery soles. Ladies can wear a small heel or flats.
You don't have to bring a dance partner but you can if you would like to. The cost of the lesson remains the same whether or not you bring a dance partner.
We teach in Chelsea, Manhattan. Usually, we share the space with other dancers however, we can reserve a private room providing we have at least a 24 hr advance notice.
Our instructors provide music but you are welcome to bring your own.
Firstly, we would ask you to come in for an Intro Lesson (30 mins at the cost of $30.-) so that we can learn to move together and test out which style of dance most suits you. Secondly, we would decide on a package that is most reasonable, the choice of music and schedule. We recommend that you sign up for a minimum of 5 lesson package, to get comfortable with your choreography.
The couples we have worked with started any time between 3 months to 9 months before the wedding date.
